Dear MaasBesa Math Parents,
My apologies for not keeping you up to date with all the subjects and topics we are covering in class. I've been traveling a lot for work and with all the different school breaks, we have gotten a bit out of sync.
I'll ensure we are back on track and will be sending you after class updates on topics covered and how the kids are doing.
Even though each of the kids is at various mathematical levels due to their ages and backgrounds - they are all performing at their appropriate grade level or above. Since the class is pretty small, it has been easy to ensure that all kids are learning, getting the attention needed to meet and expand their level of understanding, and pushed above their own limits.
We have started for the 1st graders to do a lot of single and double digit addition and subtraction - with some extra problems added in. For the kids not in the 1st grade level, I've been challenging them with brain teasers and more complex problems.
Currently, we are mainly using the following materials:
I am in the process of seeing what other books/materials would be best for the next levels.
Also, since summer is fast approaching and we won't be doing summer classes, if you have any questions on various summer programs we'd be happy to help.
Looking forward to seeing you next week and if you have any questions we'll be available after class as well.
